                                                   A Novella...

Maxime, a university professor, lives with a strong fear of romance and intimacy that is challenged when he falls for a beautiful woman in 19th century Paris, who is hiding a deep secret.

Aimee, upon meeting Maxime, realizes that his desire for her deeper intellectual self, is more powerful than her need to remain hidden, and in the end, she proves her love when she sacrifices all for the one she adores.

A love story written classically, that sweeps you into the 19th century, never wanting to leave.

One of those books that causes disappointment when you're finished and have to come back to reality.

I'm not an avid reader and I normally don't finish books when I start, but I couldn't put this one down. I love how the writer "kept me on my toes" and made me want to discover more and more about the characters as I read. I was surprised at how enthralled I became in the story and in the lives of these fictional characters. As I read, I became more acquainted with the psyche of each character, hoping and longing with them and feeling their emotion with every thought and action they took. I was also able to imagine the scenes and the time period in my head since the writer made it easy to capture the moments visually. This was a beautiful story of betrayal and love and the inner battle of the human spirit. I recommend readers and non-readers to give it a try. It's a short read, but highly impacting.
